York auto theft ring: 3 South Asians facing over 150 charges, stolen vehicles worth more than $2.8 mn recovered

Investigators with the York Regional Police Auto Cargo Theft Unit, working with Peel Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police, have dismantled a vehicle theft ring, charged three South Asians and recovered several stolen vehicles with a total value of more than $2.8 million dollars.

The investigation began in May 2023, as part of police efforts to combat the increase in vehicle thefts throughout York Region and the Greater Toronto area.

Investigators identified three suspects and executed eight search warrants. Thirty-one stolen vehicles were recovered valued at 2.8 million dollars. Officers also seized $30,000 dollars in cash, police scanner devices, key re-programmers and more than 100 master keys. Over 80 charges were laid by York police and an additional 80 charges were laid by Peel police.

Ranvir Saggi (24) of Richmond Hill, Jasman Pannu (21) of Brampton and Kuljeet Singh Sivia (23) of Richmond Hill faces a total of 83 charges including theft of motor vehicle, possession of automobile master key and possession of break in instruments.

Police said one of the accused was out on bail at the time for vehicle theft-related charges.

This investigation is ongoing.
