York police charged a 52-year-old man from Whitby with internet child luring-related offences.

In September, a male suspect engaged in communications on a social media platform with a person he believed was under 16 years, for a sexual purpose, Constable Maniva Armstrong said in a news release.

A joint investigation began with the Peel Regional Police ICE Unit and investigators were able to identify the suspect.

On Thursday, September 21, Timothy Baulk was arrested in relation to the offence.

Police say Baulk (aka: Paul) was communicating on platforms using the handle “Gymteacher” and “Gymteacher1”.

Investigators released his photo and are urging any additional victims or anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

Baulk has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on October 19, 2023.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police ICE Section at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7078 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com
