Oakville (Jan 19) – Halton police arrested three youth and one adult in connection with a robbery investigation in Oakville.

On January 15 at around 7:30 pm, four masked suspects committed an armed robbery at the PharmaSense Pharmacy on Westoak Trails, police said in a news release. The suspects entered the pharmacy armed with a handgun, assaulted multiple employees and stole a small quantity of narcotics and cash. They then fled in a stolen vehicle.

Police responded and located the suspect vehicle in the area of the pharmacy. After a short pursuit, the car came to a stop and the suspects fled on foot. A short foot chase ensued, which resulted in the arrest of all four suspects.

A handgun, determined to be a replica firearm, was recovered along with the cash and narcotics taken during the robbery.

This pharmacy was using a time-delayed safe which prevented the thieves from obtaining the potent narcotics they were seeking.

As of last March, the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) requires all community pharmacies to implement the use time-delayed safes for securing narcotics. More information on that mandate can be found on the OCP website.

Two 14-year-olds, one 16-year-old and one 18-year-old, were charged by police and held for bail. All accused are from the Etobicoke area.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.
