Peel police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for a break-and-enter in a place of worship in the Malton area of Mississauga.

On Monday, June 12 between 3 and 4 a.m., police say a man entered a temple in the 1800 block of Drew Road in Malton. Once inside, he stole currency from donation boxes before fleeing the scene.

Police said there was no damage to the temple’s religious symbols or artifacts. Investigators are confident that the suspect’s motives were to steal the contents of the donation boxes and that this was not a hate-motivated crime.

The suspect is described as male, dark complexion, average build, wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, a white surgical face mask, black pants, and Nike running shoes (grey with white trim). Police released three photos of the man, shown in this post, to help identify him.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information that may identify the suspect to call the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at (905) 453–2121, ext. 1233. Anonymous information may also be submitted by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.peelcrimestoppers.ca
