Mississauga man on lifetime weapons ban arrested again for firearms offences

A Mississauga man who has a lifetime weapons ban is facing new firearms-related charges.

On the morning of Friday, August 18, Peel police patrol responded to reports of gunfire outside of an apartment complex located at 3400 Riverspray Crescent in Mississauga. Once on scene, officers located and arrested two adult males along with evidence of gunfire. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

One of the men, 34-year-old Mubarak Rirash of Mississauga, was already on probation after being convicted of prior firearms offences in June. He was subject to a lifetime weapons ban and is currently on charge for assault causing bodily harm. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Rirash has been charged with several Criminal Code Offences including intentionally discharging a firearm recklessly, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and breach of probation order.

Also arrested was 28-year-old Wardi Dahir of Toronto. He was held pending a bail hearing and has been charged with multiple Criminal Code Offences including intentionally discharging a firearm recklessly, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.
