Man believed to be part of gang responsible for 14 Oakville home break ins arrested

Oakville (Jan 31) – Halton police announced they have made an arrest and laid charges in connection to a series of break and enter crimes in Oakville.

Between January 5 and January 13, there were 14 early evening break and enters to residential homes in southeast Oakville.

The suspects primarily targeted luxury homes between the hours of 5 pm and 9 pm, police said. Suspects gained entry by smashing the rear patio glass doors and stole jewelry, cash and other valuables.

On January 16, Toronto police officers interrupted a similar style residential break and enter in progress and were able to arrest one of the suspects.

Halton investigators were able to link the suspect to break-ins in Oakville and arrested Paata Porchkhidze (51) of North York on January 19.

He has been charged by break and entering to commit (5 counts) as well as disguise with intent (2 counts).

Investigators believe the accused to be part of an organized group committing break and enters across the GTA and is seeking additional suspects.
