BJP Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya on Saturday slammed the Congress government in Karnataka as it is yet to provide a respectful honorarium to the family of Captain M.V. Pranjal who was killed during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on November 22.

Taking to the social media, Surya, who is also National President for BJP Yuva Morcha, said, “It’s been 10 days since Capt Pranjal attained martyrdom in service of our nation. Yet the State government has not provided a respectful honorarium to the kin of the departed soul. They are not even contacted in this regard.”

While no compensation can bring back Captain Pranjal, and as usual media focus moves to other issues, it’s important that his parents are provided adequate support through these tough times, he said.

“I request CM Siddaramaiah and DyCM D.K. Shivakumar not to delay it and immediately issue Rs 50 lakh compensation to Captain Pranjal’s parents.

“Putting yourself in line of fire at a young age of 29, and making the ultimate sacrifice, is a heroic act that will inspire every generation,” Surya stated.

“To not limit our tributes to Capt Pranjal to a single day, and to allow youngsters to keep drawing inspiration from his memory, I request CM Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar to name Jigani Main Road in Captain Pranjal’s name. It will be a small yet lasting tribute to honour Captain Pranjal’s sacrifice,” he said.
