Brampton is inviting the community to come together and participate in its second Community Garba at a downtown park next month. The first one was held at the CAA Centre before the pandemic in 2019.

“We are excited to bring back this wonderful event that showcases the culture of some of our incredible residents,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in a statement. “I encourage everyone to get dressed in their best Garba attire and come out and experience what Garba is all about. The Indian culture is a large part of our Mosaic in Brampton and we look forward to celebrating together with a night of dancing, good food and fun!”

Garba is a traditional dance performed during Navratri ( a 9-day festival) that originated in Gujarat and is known for its lively, joyful style, colourful clothing and energetic music. The event showcasing Gujarati and Indian culture will be held on Friday, September 22 from 7 pm to 11 pm at Gage Park in Downtown Brampton.

“Whether you’re an experienced dancer or new to Garba, everyone is invited to enjoy the rich culture and vibrant traditions of India,” City officials said in a statement.
