South Asian man sentenced to life for stabbing wife in a Brampton park

Toronto (Mar 14) – A Brampton man has been sentenced to life for stabbing his wife in a public park after an argument in 2021. Jarnail Randhawa, 66, will not have a chance of parole for 13 years.

The sentence was handed down in Toronto last week according to news reports.

Dalbir Randhawa was attacked by by Jarnail while on a nightly walk in the area of Steeles Avenue and Mississauga Road in Brampton on June 2, 2021. Passersby found her body and called 911.

Police found Dalbir with mutiple stab wounds and severe head trauma. The 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

In January, Jarnail had pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his wife.

An autopsy revealed 35 sharp force injuries, including numerous stab wounds to her head, neck, torso, limbs, and genitals, court documents state.
