Brampton is seeking feedback from residents, artists, cultural workers, organizations, and creative businesses to determine the size, scope, and offerings for a future Arts Centre. Located at the Flower City Community Campus, once open, the Centre will be a dedicated space for the community to create, present, and experience creative works.
“Art builds community connections, inspires creativity and allows us to celebrate the talent Brampton has to offer,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in a statement. “As we build a new space to come together and experience art and culture, your feedback is vital in shaping a space that reflects who we are as a city.”
On March 9, City Council passed a motion to build a new arts centre to expand the available amount of creative spaces that support and showcase the Brampton’s growing arts, culture and creative industries. Individuals are encouraged to share big ideas for the centre by attending a community pop-up, virtual workshop or participating in an online survey.
Registration is required for the virtual wish list workshops for the new Brampton Arts Centre to be held on Tuesday, August 29 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Wednesday, September 6 from 10 am-12 pm. A workshop on Indigenous Perspectives on a New Brampton Arts Centre will be held on Wednesday, August 30 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
