Filmmaker Vinay Virmani inducted into Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame

Brampton (Mar 12) – Brampton recently announced the induction of ‘two local arts trailblazers’ filmmaker Vinay Virmani and The Carlton Showband into the city’s Arts Walk of Fame.

Since 2014, Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame has served as one of the City’s key recognition programs, celebrating and building connections with the artistic and creative talent from the city. Inductees are selected for achieving excellence in the arts and entertainment industry, for building pride in the Brampton community and for inspiring emerging artists and creators.​​

Virmani is an award-winning filmmaker with a diverse portfolio spanning acting, producing, and writing. His belief in diverse storytelling, equity, and inclusion for the future of film drives his professional endeavours. This passion led him to found First Take Entertainment, through which Virmani aims to connect global audiences with captivating narratives that transcend cultural barriers. Vinay also serves as Partner and Chief Content Officer at Uninterrupted Canada, the first global expansion of Lebron James and Maverick Carter’s athlete empowerment platform, which aims to empower athletes and filmmakers across the country.

Brampton will celebrate Vinay Virmani’s induction on National Film Day which is on April 17. More details will be available in the coming weeks.

The Arts Walk of Fame currently features 23 inductees, including renowned individuals such as Rupi Kaur and Russell Peters. Later this year, as part of Brampton’s 50th celebrations, the City will unveil a Brampton Arts Walk of Fame exhibit at The Rose. Brampton residents and visitors are welcome and encouraged to view it.

Juno award-winning, The Carlton Showband has garnered an international following since 1964. Over their career, they released 24 albums and 12 singles, earning both gold and platinum records, and toured extensively throughout North America. All band members of The Carlton Showband were Brampton residents. Throughout their career, they regularly performed at local venues and events, actively supporting the local music scene.
