Richmond Hill (Mar 12) – York police are appealing for witnesses following an early morning fire that caused millions of dollars in damages to three homes in Richmond Hill.
On Sunday, March 10 at around 11:45 p.m., police responded to reports of an active fire of a home under construction on Duncan Road, in the area of 16th Avenue and Bayview Avenue. Numerous calls were received from concerned citizens reporting that the property was fully engulfed in flames.
Police began evacuating residents of neighbouring homes as the fire quickly spread. The home under construction was destroyed by the fire and two adjacent homes were severely damaged. Luckily no one was injured.
The damage to all three homes is estimated to be more than $12 million. The cause of the fire is unknown. The Office of the Fire Marshal has been engaged.
