Milton (Feb 26) – Halton police have made an arrest in connection with an attempted auto theft in Milton during which an officer was dragged by the stolen vehicle.
On February 21 at around 3:15 am police were dispatched to an address in the area of Woodward Avenue and Thompson Road North, Milton, after suspects attempted to steal a 2024 Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck. When officers arrived several suspects fled on foot, police said in a news release. While attempting to arrest a male in the suspect vehicle one officer was dragged for approximately 50 meters before falling to the ground suffering minor injuries.
The driver of the suspect vehicle escaped, however after continued investigation a suspect who fled on foot was located and arrested in the back yard of a neighbouring residence.
At the time of his arrest, 23-year-old Takiyoudine Oumerzouk from Montreal was on a release order with conditions not to leave the Province of Quebec. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
