Mississauga man Kenneth Law now facing 14 second-degree murder charges in sodium nitrite deaths case

Investigators from a multi-jurisdictional police team today announced additional second-degree charges against Kenneth Law in connection with multiple deaths across Ontario.

As previously reported in May, the 57-year-old Mississauga man was arrested in relation to an investigation involving the online sale and distribution of sodium nitrite.

As the investigation continued, a multi-jurisdictional team of investigators was formed involving police agencies from Peel, York, Toronto, Durham, London, Waterloo, Windsor, Ottawa, Thunder Bay and Barrie, along with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

An 12 additional charges of Counselling or Aiding Suicide were laid against Law in August bringing the total number of charges to 14.

Then on Monday, December 11, investigators laid 14 additional charges of Second Degree Murder on Kenneth Law pertaining to the same 14 victims, bringing the total charges laid to 28.

Kenneth Law remains in custody, awaiting trial for the charges brought forward.

Police continue to appeal to the community to be vigilant of online transactions and activity or the arrival of deliveries from any of the following companies — Imtime Cuisine, AmbuCA, Academic/ACademic, Escape Mode/ escMode and ICemac.

“If you or someone you know has received a package from the businesses listed above, please get in touch with your local police service immediately,” investigators said in a news release. “Packages received could contain hoods, masks, tubing and/or sodium nitrite.”

Investigators are also appealing to anyone with information about an incident or who has have received a package that they suspect may contain any of these items to please email 11Divproject@peelpolice.ca or call the Dedicated Project Line at 1-888-714-0003.
