Toronto police has made the largest seizure of cocaine and crystal meth in the department’s history.
Deputy Chief Rob Johnson was joined by Superintendent Steve Watts of Organized Crime Enforcement to announce the results of Project Finito, an investigation into the importation and distribution of large volumes of illicit drugs in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The investigation resulted in the seizure of 992 kilograms of drugs – 551 kilos of cocaine and 441 of crystal methamphetamine – with a total estimated street value of $90 million, officials said. A single firearm along with one motor vehicle were also seized along with approximately $95,100 in Canadian currency.
In October 2023, members of the Toronto Police Service Organized Crime Enforcement Drug Squad and the Organized Crime Task Force executed a number of search warrants resulting in the arrests of seven individuals.
It is alleged that the arrested individuals form part of a sophisticated network involved in the distribution of large volumes of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine in the GTA.
Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario (CISO) is supporting this Toronto Police Service joint investigation through funding provided by the province.
