Over 100 bands to perform at Mississauga blues and jazz festival next month

Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle Blues and Jazz Festival is set to return to Port Credit and Memorial Park.

Established in 1999, the three-day outdoor festival features world-class live entertainment with over 100 bands, both local and international. It offers free attractions, including The Pattison Outdoor Stage, The Queen Bea Stage, Rabba Fine Foods Street Shuffle (held in the village on Saturday from 1-5 P.M.), and the ticketed Brightwater Mainstage.

This year’s main stage acts include Canada’s David Wilcox, The Legendary Downchild Blues Band, Matt Andersen & The Big Bottle Of Joy, Angelique Francis, Spencer Mackenzie, Jack de Keyzer, My Son the Hurricane, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, SheWolves of London, Suzie McNeil and the Chain Reaction, and The Last Waltz (The music of The Band).

“It’s truly amazing how much the festival has evolved since our first event in 1999. When we started, we had four bands playing on a soccer field at Lakeshore and Hwy 10, and a few bands in the clubs. We didn’t even have a liquor license,” said Artistic Director Chuck Jackson. “Today, it’s a licensed park with multiple stages, food vendors, and an artisan market, a street closure with bands along Lakeshore, and bands in the clubs in both Port Credit and Lakeview. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of all our sponsors and grantors, the continued backing from our community, a dedicated team of volunteers, and everyone who comes out to support the festival year after year.”

The inaugural event is organized by a volunteer board of directors and funded by the generous support of several sponsors and grantors, including Tim Hortons of Mississauga, Brightwater, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Creates, Canadian Heritage, Port Credit BIA, The City of Mississauga, Port Credit Community Foundation, Pattison Outdoor Advertising, Mississauga Tourism, Edenshaw, Liuna, Rabba Fine Foods, and more.

The park opens at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night for both the free and ticketed areas. Main stage tickets are $20 on Friday, $25 on Saturday, and $20 on Sunday. Weekend passes are $60 and are available for purchase online at southsidehuffle.ca and at two Port Credit store locations: Impressionable Gifts & Decor at 74 Lakeshore Rd E, and Ric’s Recollections Music and Vinyl Store at 257 Lakeshore Rd E. The store locations selling tickets are cash-only, with no online purchase service fees.

All Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle information, including schedules for all three stages, the street, and the clubs, is listed on the Southside Shuffle website at southsideshuffle.ca, or it can be found in the official program available online or at various participating locations in Port Credit.
