Brampton man who filmed himself racing arrested, police looking for motorcycle rider

Peel police have arrested a Brampton resident for multiple driving offences including speeding and racing.

In June, Peel Police Safer Roads Team (SRT) officers were made aware of a viral video posted to social media which depicted a driver racing a green motorcycle, reaching speeds of 226km/hr in a posted 80km/hr zone in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Airport Road in Brampton.

Aided by the video, SRT officers were able to identify 22-year-old Simranjit Singh of Brampton as the driver of the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette. On Friday, June 30, he was arrested and charged with several offences including racing, stunt driving and speeding.

Singh has been released with conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Monday, August 28. His driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle, a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette was impounded.

Investigators are asking anyone who can identify the motorcycle rider in the video, witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the incident to contact Road Safety Services – Safer Roads Team at 905-453-3311, extension 3710.
