York police have charged three teenagers in connection with an armed robbery at a phone store in Richmond Hill.

On Monday, August 21 at 5 p.m., police responded to an armed robbery at a phone retail store, located at a mall in the area Yonge Street and Carville Road. Three masked suspects entered the store, one holding a firearm. One employee was able to escape out the back door while a second employee and a customer were forced to the back of the store at gunpoint. The suspects stole a large quantity of cell phones and other merchandise before fleeing the area in a red vehicle. While the suspects were fleeing the area, they were involved in two separate vehicle collisions. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured.

Through investigation, and with the quick response of patrol officers, the vehicle and suspects were located on Carville Rd, after the second collision. Two suspects fled on foot while one suspect was arrested. With the assistance of the Canine Unit, the two suspects were located in a residential area near the collision and arrested.

The stolen merchandise was recovered and a replica firearm was seized. Investigators learned the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in Toronto in connection with a carjacking incident.

An 18-year-old from Brampton, 16-year-old from Toronto and 15-year-old with no fixed address faces several charges including use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence and Disguise with Intent.

Police say the 15-year-old accused was already on bail for unrelated charges at the time of these offences.
