3 arrested for attempted auto theft after following man to Milton

Halton police advised the public to be aware of vehicles that may be following them after they arrested three men for an attempted auto theft in Milton.

On the evening of Saturday, November 4, a Halton resident who was driving home from Toronto noticed a vehicle had been following them, police said in a news release. When the individual parked in a driveway, masked occupants of the suspect vehicle approached the individual’s vehicle.

After realizing the individual was on the phone, the suspects fled to their vehicle and drove away. The individual was on the phone with police, who were able to quickly respond to the area and locate the suspect vehicle nearby.

Three men were arrested and a subsequent search of the suspect vehicle led to the discovery of a Winchester air pistol under the driver’s seat.

Vineet Chopra (20) of Toronto, Gurpreet Singh Sasn (24) of Scarborough, and Mandeep Singh (19) of Cambridge were each charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Theft of Motor Vehicle, and Disguise with Intent.

Police want drivers to be vigilant and pay particular attention to vehicles that may be following them. Should such a vehicle be observed, they should call 9-1-1 immediately and provide location, direction of travel, and detailed description of the suspect vehicle, including the suspect vehicle’s licence plate (if possible), police said.
