Peel Region’s fall garbage exemption period is from September 11 to 22.
During an exemption period, there is no maximum amount of acceptable garbage that Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon residents can put on the curb. Garbage bag tags are also not required.
Extra garbage is collected only on the designated garbage collection day, not on recycling collection day. To find their garbage exemption day, Peel residents should check their collection calendar.
There are some guidelines for extra garbage to be picked up from the curb. A bag cannot weigh more than 20 kg (44 lbs), be larger than 66 cm (26 in) wide and 90 cm (35 in) high.
Be smaller than 30 cm (12 in) wide and 30 cm (12 in) high.
