Halton police have arrested a teenager from Mississauga in connection with a series of night-time break and enters in Oakville and other nearby regions.
Between July 1 and July 11, seven Oakville residences in the area of Upper Middle Road and Eighth Line in Oakville were broken into overnight while residents slept. Similar entries occurred in York Region and Peel. During the entries, six vehicles were stolen along with cash and valuables from the residences.
As a result of the entries, “Project Haze” was initiated. This project was a Halton Regional Police Service-led partnered investigation with Peel Regional Police and York Regional Police.
On July 27, investigators located and arrested the teen-aged suspect, who was observed operating a stolen vehicle in Scarborough.
A Criminal Code search warrant was subsequently executed at a residence in Mississauga. As a result of the search, stolen car keys, garage door openers, jewelry and other stolen property was recovered. Investigators also located a modified replica firearm during the search. During the course of the investigation, seven stolen vehicles were recovered.
A 15-year-old girl from Mississauga faces several charges including break and enter (7 counts), Theft of Motor Vehicle (2 counts), Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Fail to Comply with Release Order
She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
