12-year-old girl dies after stabbing at Scarborough apartment

A 12-year-old girl died of her injuries in a Scarborough apartment yesterday evening.

Toronto police said they responded to a call for a stabbing in the Kennedy Road and Antrim Crescent area on Tuesday, September 5 at 6:30 p.m. A 12-year-old-girl was located with injuries and was pronounced deceased inside a residence and a young person was arrested at the scene.

The young person (who cannot be named as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act ) has been charged with second degree murder.

A CityNews report says the suspect is a boy who is the same age as the victim.

Premier Doug Ford expressed his condolences to the family in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child and my deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and loved ones,” Ford said.
