Akshay’s daughter named after a vampire and Rajesh Khanna!

Bollywood is all about having the right surname. If you are a ‘Kapoor’ and come from the illustrious family tree of Prithviraj Kapoor, you are considered a B-town royal. The second most powerful last name of the industry is ‘Khan’ given the three ‘Khan’ veterans who have ruled the industry for over a decade, namely Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman.

And then of course there are the evergreen Khanna’s!

So it didn’t really come as a surprise when Akshay wanted his daughter to have the last name of his father-in-law.

Reportedly, Akshay and Twinkle’s little girl has been named Nitara Khanna Bhatiya.

 Akshay decided to add the surname ‘Khanna’ as a tribute to his father-in-law.

The name Nitara in Sanskrit means “having deep roots”. However, here is the fun part! A vampire in the game series Mortal Kombat also goes by the same name.

The vampire features prominently in the series MK: Armageddon and spends a long time trying to find a mysterious orb that binds her realm to Outworld before actually discovering its location, according to her character description on the page listing all the Mortal Kombat characters.

It is unlikely that Akshay Kumar had the vampire in mind when he named his baby girl, but the Khanna tribute is clear!

Nitara was born on 25th September.  Akshay and Twinkle already have a 10-year-old son, Aarav.
