Two teenagers have been arrested for the kidnapping and murder of a five-year-old. The crime was allegedly committed in order to get money to buy themselves a motorcycle.
The body of five-year-old Shubh Raval was found near his house on Sunday night and the police has said he was allegedly kidnapped by two teenagers who lived in the same area.
The boy, whose parents work at the Defense Research and Development Organization, was allegedly kidnapped by 19-year-old Parminder Singh and his accomplice, a 15-year-old student, and taken to the hillock near where he lived.
Singh lived in the nearby Defense Security Corps (DSC) quarters with his parents and was a hotel management student, who was also working in a shopping mall. His accomplice is still in school.
“Investigations have revealed that Parminder and the minor boy decided to abduct Shubh to get easy money. Parminder wanted Rs 1 lakh to purchase a motorcycle,” Deputy commissioner of police Shahaji Umap was quoted as saying .
Singh’s accomplice allegedly knew the Ravals and had planned to source their number to make a ransom call, but when the child reportedly attempted to flee from his abductors they killed him.
